North East – Inner Asia LLC
(NEIA) was created by Stephanie Benefield, a Japanese energy
and business development expert, and Dr. Alicia Campi, a Mongolian
and Chinese expert active in business, government, academic,
and immigration circles. They formed NEIA to meet the need
for a consulting organization, focused on a key strategic
and minerally-rich area of the world, that can draw upon a
wide circle of cooperative associates from the nations of
the region to research issues and develop projects from a
regional perspective. The goal of NEIA is to serve as an active
bridge and catalyst between the advanced Asian and American
economies and the newly emerged Asian, formerly socialist,
states that are learning about free market economics, building
democratic civil society institutions, and integrating into
the globalized economic system.
Ms. Benefield, NEIA’s President and Treasurer, was trained
in the U.S. and Japan in Japanese studies and served as
an officer for the U.S. government in various Japanese postings
before beginning her extensive private business consulting
work. She is a fluent Japanese speaker with extensive ties
to the leading Japanese companies in the power, telecommunications,
transportation, and commercial fields.
Dr. Campi, NEIA’s Executive Director and Vice President,
is a well-known Mongolist and expert on Mongolian-Chinese
and regional relations. She spent over 13 years in various
Asian posts as a diplomat, and now is an Asian immigration
researcher and professor. She has more than 15 years of
Mongolian business development experience, and continues
to be an adviser to the U.S. and Mongolian governments.
